Project Overview:
We are looking for a Linux System Infrastructure Engineer to join our client's team for a 6-month project based in
Aix-en-Provence, France. This freelance role involves managing Linux system infrastructures within a diverse and
evolving technical environment. The candidate will ensure system stability, security, and efficiency while also
contributing to automation and cloud-based initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Linux environments.
- Deploy and manage Linux-based infrastructure in an enterprise environment.
- Maintain and optimize system performance, security, and reliability.
- Contribute to the automation of system administration tasks using tools like Ansible and Terraform.
- Assist in migrations, upgrades, and large-scale deployments.
- Conduct homologation (validation/testing) of VMware 8 and other technologies to ensure compatibility.
- Work closely with architects and external vendors on technical implementations.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, system hardening, and security best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Linux System Administrator (Ubuntu/Debian or RedHat/Fedora).
- Strong expertise in automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Packer for system configuration.
- Experience in hardening Linux systems for security and compliance.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, OpenStack, Docker Swarm).
- Knowledge of storage, backup, and infrastructure monitoring tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Experience working in large-scale, high-availability environments.
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team.
Technical Environment:
- 15,000 physical and virtual servers primarily on Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
- VMware virtualization including large-volume VMs
- Automation with Ansible, OpenShift, OpenNebula, ManageIQ, GIT
- Orchestration using OpenStack, Docker Swarm
- Infrastructure management with Katello Foreman, Lansweeper, vRealize
- Storage solutions including NetApp, Pure Storage, Huawei, EMC
- Backup technologies like Veeam, HP Data Protector, Commvault, DataDomain
- Middleware expertise in Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Nginx, DRBD, HA, Keepalive
- Database management with MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ElasticSearch
- Monitoring and supervision using Centreon, Zabbix
