Job Title: Senior Data Engineer (Azure)

Our client is a leading player in the insurance industry, providing innovative solutions to both individual and enterprise clients. They're looking to welcome a Senior Data Engineer to join on a 12-month contract to support the expansion and optimization of their Azure data infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team responsible for scaling and improving data solutions that directly impact the company's business and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable data pipelines and infrastructure on Microsoft Azure. Implement best practices for data storage, integration, and processing within Azure services such as Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Databricks.
Design, build, and maintain automated data pipelines that move and transform large datasets from various sources into analytical platforms (Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, etc.). Focus on high-performance, secure, and reliable data movement.
Work closely with data scientists, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements, ensuring that the data architecture supports the needs of various teams across the business.
Document solutions, processes, and workflows to ensure that knowledge is shared and that standards for data engineering are maintained across the organization.
Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on cloud-based data solutions, preferably in the Azure ecosystem.
Proven experience building and managing data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses using Azure services.
Experience working in the insurance industry or other regulated sectors (e.g., healthcare, finance) is highly desirable
Expertise in Azure cloud services such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, Azure Functions.
Strong proficiency in SQL and scripting languages such as Python or Scala.
Experience with ETL tools, data modeling, and transformation techniques.
