Glocomms are currently working with an IT consultancy that are looking for a C++ Developer for their financial service end client, to join them on a long-term freelance mission starting ASAP.
Location: Porto or Lisbon (1 or 2 times a week)

Overview: The main project team handles regular BAU activities and participates in projects without dedicated funding related to our library, providing a crucial channel for delivering the latest research developments to a large user base.
Collaboration: The role involves working closely with the FRG and other Quant Research teams, primarily located in London or Lisbon. Strong programming skills and an understanding of Flow Rates products and their risks are essential. Equally important is the ability to communicate effectively with quants, developers, and testers, and to build strong relationships with existing teams in complementary roles.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including C++ and Python (increasingly preferred for new tests and central to a new Test Platform).
- Additional programming languages (C#, Java) and other scripting languages are a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, including mathematical/statistical intuition and logical reasoning.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Excel, the historically dominant RAD tool.
- Understanding of modern software development, with experience in industrialized, scalable testing of mission-critical applications (e.g., using automation tools and container technology).
- Basic knowledge of Flow Rates products and an interest in quantitative finance.
- Experience with large-scale quantitative libraries (Risk, Pricing, P&L Explain) is a bonus.
Qualifications:
- A strong academic background in mathematics/statistics or a closely related field (e.g., physics, engineering) is highly valued.
- Essential requirements:
- Experience with relevant technologies: C++ (mandatory); Python (nice to have).
- Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills (candidates with an interest in probabilistic games like poker or sports betting tend to excel).
- An interest and understanding of financial products and their workings, as well as past experience in Quantitative Analysis or Financial Math, are highly valued.
